Here are the betting lines for all four of this week's SEC football games.
As if we needed any more confirmation, we found out during Saturday’s Georgia-Alabama game that great offense often trumps great defense in the SEC this season.
That’s exciting if you’re a fan of touchdowns or betting on overs.
Speaking of betting, COVID-19 disruptions hit the SEC slate last week. We still got to watch five games, a number that will shrink by at least one this week.
Let’s take a look at this week’s SEC betting odds.
Week 8 betting odds
Auburn (-6) at Ole Miss, noon ET
Alabama (-17) at Tennessee, 3:30 p.m. ET
Kentucky (-5) at Missouri, 4 p.m. ET
South Carolina at LSU (-7), 7 p.m. ET
Based on Circa Sports opening lines released near 2 p.m. ET Sunday.
Week 8 gambling notes
-Tennessee won eight consecutive games and led Georgia at halftime. Since then, the Vols have been outscored 61-7.
-The last time Tennessee beat Alabama was in 2006, when QB Erik Ainge overcame three first-half interceptions to help coach Phillip Fulmer celebrate a win over coach Mike Shula.
-Auburn gets an Ole Miss defense that’s allowing 3.6 points per possession, which ranks ahead of UMass and no one else.
-QB Matt Corral fumbled and threw six interceptions Saturday in a 33-21 loss at Arkansas, including a pick six with a chance to drive for the go-ahead score late in the game.
-Mississippi State beat LSU 44-34 in the season opener. Mike Leach’s Air Raid offense has scored three touchdowns and 12 turnovers in 38 drives since.
-Kentucky’s defense now ranks No. 1 in the country in explosiveness allowed. Missouri scored 45 on LSU last time out due to numerous blown coverages, but this will be a tougher assignment for freshman QB Connor Bazelak.
-Arkansas (4-0) and South Carolina (3-0-1) are the only SEC teams that remain unbeaten ATS based on the closing line at Circa Sports.
-Due to COVID-related schedule adjustments, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt have bye weeks.
-The Big Ten and Mountain West kick off their respective seasons this week, providing more opportunities for bettors to find value.
