New York Giants head coach Joe Judge continued to fill out his staff on Monday, reportedly hiring two more assistants in quarterbacks coach Jerry Schuplinski and defensive line coach Freddie Roach.

Schuplinski, a three-time Super Bowl champion as a member of the New England Patriots, spent the past year-plus serving as the assistant quarterbacks coach of the Miami Dolphins. That’s the same title he held with the Patriots from 2016-2018, having previously served as an offensive assistant (2013-2015).

Prior to his time in the NFL, Schuplinski was a special teams coordinator and linebackers coach for Case Western Reserve (intercollegiate football in Cleveland, Ohio), the head coach at Trinity High School in Garfield Heights, Ohio and a graduate assistant at John Carroll University.

Roach began his career at Alabama as a strength and conditioning coordinator from 2008-2010. In 2011, he joined East Mississippi Community College of “Last Chance U” fame as a defensive line coach/strength and conditioning coordinator.

In 2012, Roach coached the defensive line at Murray State before moving onto South Alabama from 2013-2014, overseeing the linebackers and defensive ends during that tenure. It was back to Alabama from 2015-2016, where he served as Director of Player Development before joining Ole Miss in 2017 as their defensive line coach.

During his time at Alabama, Roach crossed paths with both defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson and, more obviously, head coach Joe Judge.

Yep. It really blew up about dinner time last night.

Ole Miss side saying he's headed this way. A few Bama people saying "don't discount what they're saying."

Side observation this morning ... fans talk of continuity and stability. The 'tone' from the complex on staff changes are "none expected, but I wouldn't be surprised." In a peculiar way there's stability and continuity there.

From the SECBama rant...…….

quote Some chatter tonight that Freddie Roach is expected to join Bama's staff as DL Coach, with Brian Baker potentially taking over the position vacated by Burton Burns. Tim Watts heard it from 3 "usually reliable" sources and an OM source as well. A connected poster on BOL said he's hearing the same.

So Nick finds a spot for Baker without having to fire the guy.....in 2020. I guess Bo Davis to Bama ain't happening.

If the Roach deal is true then moving Baker to off the field will find the guy still getting his dollars while contributing to the program.

Bama just paid off the last DL coach from 2018....Nick must not have thought much of Coach K's contribution to the 2018 team.
Kuligowski was out of football this season after being fired by the Crimson Tide following his first year with the team.

Despite not working for Alabama this season, Kuligowski was paid $933,793 by Alabama in 2019, according to the university’s financial database. Kuligowski, who was owed the money for the second year of his two-year, $750,000 per year contract, was paid an average of $62,530 per month as well as two one-time payments of $120,000 and $63,433.

Alabama will soon have a new defensive line coach.

Current defensive line coach Brian Baker is expected to move into an off-field role, AL.com has learned.

Former Alabama player and staffer Freddie Roach is the name to keep an eye on for that defensive line job, according to sources. Roach is expected to be in Tuscaloosa Monday, per sources.

This is great, I love boxing, and those skills can maybe teach great footwork and possibly the swim move.

Looking back the loss of ole Bo Davis has caused Nick and Bama some problems. Bo sure made a mess with his recruiting mistake several years back and Nick is still trying to hire someone that can do the job. I believe if hired that would be 4 since Bo drove the truck.

So what is the deal with Bo Davis at this point? He had some very productive DL's. Is he not an option? I suspect Freddie will do great but was just curious.

That is what I was wandering about. It seemed like if Saban really wanted him back he would be back. Only thing that is odd is he brought Lance Thompson back and it seemed like he skated close to the edge sometimes. Maybe he never crossed it like Davis did.

IIRC, Lance just couldn't keep his pecker in his trousers and got in trouble with his wife, who gave him an ultimatum to leave UA. I think he came bck after they split for good.

If Bo had told the truth to Saban, he would likely still be there in some capacity. Saban allows you to make a mistake, as long as you own up to it.

Here's another angle to consider. What's the role of the Compliance department?

I believe we'll all agree, first and foremost, it's education. In other words, making sure the staff members and athletes are fully informed on governing rules.

Is it their role to institute self-imposed sanctions if rules are broken? Advisory role, at best, in my view.

The bigger question is this. Is it their role to look at prospective employees and assume a "pre-crime" type of role as seen in Minority Report? Not like they know a rule will be broken, but "there's a possibility one might be made so let's cut it off now."
