In order to try to match stats, I did a lot of digging. Went into the play by play listing at ESPN from last year to identify the last series I saw Tua mentioned and add up the minutes. In some cases Jalen came in for part of the first half and I had to adjust things so I went from the end of where Tua left to the beginning of where he came back and took that out. I come up with 150 minutes played in 2018 in the first 5 games and 207 in 2019 (average of about 12 minutes per game difference). Adjust everything for full games and we get:

2018 - 2322 yards, 28 TD, 46 20-yd passes
2019 - 2490 yards, 33 TD, 45 20-yd passes

So he is a bump above last year in pretty much everything still. I am sure there are other ways to calculate this better but this should be good enough.

So does he thank his defense for getting him more minutes?

His Heisman Trophy is going to rest on the LSU game and the SEC Championship if we make it. He lost it against Georgia, so that's where we need to see his improvements, not just his numbers now. Gah, we should have had the second two time winner in history. Unfortunate that the extra game hurt him.

He makes it look so easy. The great ones do which leads us to not be in awe of it as much as we should be. He is really really good!!!!!

If Alabama is 13-0/12-1, and he continues this up to include winning the SEC, him not winning the Heismen trophy would be the biggest load of bullshit that has ever been committed in college sports.

No, Paul Hornung has that covered. He valiantly led his Notre Dame team to a 2-8 record, losing to Tommy McDonald's Oklahoma squad 40-0. McDonald finished second and his teammate, Jerry Tubbs, split the vote on their NC squad. Third place was Johnny Majors, who led UT to a #2 ranking. And some guy named Jim Brown deserved it as well.

Hornung was 59-111 for 917 yards, with 3 TD and 13 (yes, 13) INT.
