A glimpse of the menu board at the Oilers game last night. Good lord almighty...and not a damn thing there to eat.

Gotta make up for the low turnouts somehow.. I would suggest to stop pissing off your base viewership, but then again... i'm not in advertising/marketing.

This image is from the Edmonton Oilers ... but since you've brought that up and a lot of us still remember the Houston Oilers ... here's an interesting note I ran across this morning.

One of the surprising ratings stories this week came from the Texans' game against the Panthers drawing less viewers in Houston than Cowboys-Saints. But the Dish-Fox dispute includes the Houston Fox affiliate, so that likely played a role.

I assumed people would put Oilers, hockey, and Canada together. Maybe not.

Still, over $15 bucks for beer and popcorn? Almost $70 if a family of four gets wings and a soft drink? Heck man, I had a tab that was almost seventy last week that include shots (four liquors and a Red Bull,) taco's, and a few beers (bought a few of those for a friend.)

It's outrageous what they're charging now-a-day.

Concessions every where has gotten out of hand and I wish we would all decide to boycott concession food. People already pay enough for tickets!

And this is exactly why this old man would rather get together with friends, grill out and watch the game. You can grab snacks or go to the bathroom during a commercial. If the game happens to not go the way you had hoped, you can change the channel

lmao who in the hell would be willing to pay that? I honestly believed that after the Atlanta Falcons made their fan-friendly concession prices (and then the fact that they ended up like tripling their concession sales after that) more teams would do that. Especially because this is a baseball game and those games can last FOREVER, this almost comes off like price gauging to me.

Man our theater here - they just built a brand new a couple of years ago - decided they were going to provide actual meal foods (chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, etc.) along with the usual theater food and it's really reasonable. Chicken nugget combo for like $7, which is about what you will pay anywhere. The popcorn and candy is still outrageous to me but at the same time you can get a huge bucket of popcorn for $20 that gives you a free refill each time you come to the theater for the entire year (as long as you bring the bucket with you each time). My wife and I decided to check out a movie when we stayed in Pensacola earlier this year and I didn't realize just how spoiled we had gotten until I went to up there and bought two cokes, two nachos and it was $20.

They just built a Premiere theater/bowling/gaming/restaurant in Pell City, pretty nice and it's overrun with folks. They have one in Biloxi near my son and his family in Ocean Springs, too. Their food is a bit more reasonable than some. The NCG near us in Acworth is decent, too.

Several of these newer companies are going on building sprees. It probably won't end well, I hate the shakeouts on bowling alleys and movie theaters. Special purpose properties like that go at a huge discount, usually end up as repurposed as Baptist churches so the Holy Spirit can have gravity on His side during the altar call.

These people need to take a lesson from Arthur Blank(not on much else but on concessions). They are charging less than half of what others are charging, on average and they are making more profits.

Last week I went to see Hall & Oates at the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre and I paid $5.00 for a 20 Oz water bottle!

People are paying $5 for a coffee drink. That alone tells you what people will pay for goods.

When someone ask me to pay really inflated price, I tell them they value it way more than I do and walk away.
