today marks the 75th anniversary of the beginning of Operation Overlord (and, more specifically, Operation Neptune). it is one of, if not THE, greatest military undertakings in history.

to me, it signaled the beginning of the end for the nazi bastards.

from a grateful American citizen, I sincerely thank all those who stormed the beaches at Normandy and drove the nazis back and helped to secure the freedom of not only this country, but many, many others, as well. those men, who gave so much to battle evil, will NEVER be forgotten by me. they are the very definition of what a hero is.

No doubt, they were special people. Words don't do them justice at all.

A neat story about a C37 that didn't make it into WWII due to timelines. It was sitting in a muesem in Missoula, Montana and flew over to Normandy to take part in the 75th Anniversary.
