Wow. I remember they used to say about David Thompson at NC State that you could put a quarter on the top of the backboard and he could jump up and leave change.

How many big men in the NBA have had people say that about them? More than a handful. There is a game or two where it sure looked like DT was that high.

Look up Wilt's story...he's got a few words about these stories. Of course, you have to take what Wilt says as "what Wilt said."

Wilt used to high-jump too so I imagine if anyone could leave change off the top of the backboard it would have been him. I'd like to see a picture of just how high he could have reached.

One guy was asked, forget who, if he could grab a quarter off the top of the backboard. He said no, but put a $100 bill up there and he could take it...

Zion is a lot of fun to watch. He's not built as lean as LeBron, but damn if he ain't as athletic as one can be at that size.

Dude is a straight up athletic freak. If his skills ever catch his athleticism it will be a sight to behold

I heard tell that Earl "the Goat" Manigault could take a dollar from the top of the backboard and leave four quarters.

Bama Alum Antonio McDeyss was one that I literally believe could do that.
Yep. Not the best video, but at the 2:46 mark McDyess hits the backboard on an alley-oop right at the name on he back of his jersey. He could fly.

This Duke player can jump...dang..head above the rim...
Most on here never saw....Wilt Chamberlain play basketball...
But I did.... and he was the greatest round baller ever...
Jordan, Labron, jabbar, whoever....
Dont know about making change and all that stuff...but Wilt was unstoppable...period
100 points in agame....( some different rules helped i know...but still) like Babe Ruths 60 home runs ( more then any other TEAM in 1927)...

I agree, can I get you to add coach Paul "Bear" Bryant to that list?

Wilt the Stilt had a 48" vertical.

Darrell Griffith could climb te ladder at 48" as well.

On a related note since we're talking about verticals and grabbing quarters off the back board.

David Thompson admits he couldn't make change...
