I'm looking at her face and wondering if she's out of high school.
Oddly enough, I was pricing crossties last weekend (for a much different reason). I'm not sure how much a new bumper costs, but a crosstie in Tuscaloosa can be had for $22.
Also, and this is totally unrelated, if any RTB'ers want to help me build a small retaining wall in my back yard, come on over! It's going to be a barrel of monkeys.
Been there done that. Mine was over 40 ft & from 8 ft to 3 ft high in some areas by laying concrete blocks. Took me all during the summer of '00.
Mine was going to be a much smaller project, but I think you just talked me out of it.
If it makes you feel any better I did concrete footer the entire length & also mortared the blocks, all while keeping an eye on my four year old son. It just had to take time.
Laying landscape timbers should be much easier but have a good saw (chainsaw preferred) & power drill (along with a good auger bit). Just don't be impatient.
