I thought with the new kick-off rule we would at least be hitting close to the end zone? Watched the game again and almost every kick went to the 10 yard line.

That isn't necessarily a bad thing. As long as we tackle them before the 25 we show a gain.

Eh true, but there were a few times where Michigan KO returner got past the 25 and didn't meet an Alabama player until the 30-35 yard line

I know I've heard Saban say in the past something to the effect that if we could kick it in the endzone we would. But, after watching this game and seeing the ball going to about the same place as it did before they moved it up this year, I'm lead to believe that this is what Alabama wants to do. I think they want to at least have the opportunity to stop them before the 25.

Just my opinion.

That happened twice. The first and last kickoff of the game. However, the first kick was fielded at the 5 yard line and the last kick was fielded at the 3 yard line.

We kicked 8 times in the game the first one was fielded at the 5, the rest of them were within the 5 yard line. That's including four that were fielded in the end zone or at the goal line.

Average starting field position for the game was inside the 25 yard line; between the 23 and 24 yard line to be precise. (BTW, those numbers don't include yards marked off by penalty.)

This is what some Bama fans (myself included) are telling ourselves, anyway.

The positive here for Cade though is that it somewhat absolves him, regardless. Because all we can do is speculate.
As far as his mental health is concerned, I don't think the kid (or anyone really) could take another year of that level of mental abuse. I noticed he wisely left twitter for the season prior to the Michigan game. Partially why I really don't see Saban kicking FGs during any close games this yr unless they're short enough for Shelley

Foster actually looked pretty good on his two FG attempts. Both were 50+ yds. One drifted a little left, the 2nd was right down the pipe. I think Cade will be fine.

I see a difference in Cade's kicking already. The consultant brought in to work with the kickers in December last year certainly seems to have paid off.

He went one for two against Michigan, and the one he missed he pulled. Last year, he wasn't pulling kicks but had them hooking quite a bit. So far in the two he's had this year that's gone—straight as an arrow.

While on the subject of kickers, have you heard anything about how Griffith has been doing since he arrived?

I do hope Cade has done well in life.

I'll admit though that I'm still slightly sour about his performance in the Iron Bowl in 2013. All he had to do was make one fucking kick and that game would've been probably iced. The Barn showed that FSU wasn't some unbeatable juggernaut that year. We could have handled them.
