I'm taking Marshall to win, N Illinois to cover in game one and Navy to cover in game two along with the win.

And, for all you energy vampires...I'm down a grand on the bowl season so far...well, that, and the vig.

Loving me some Navy this morning!! I suppose it's a bit of irony considering I've seen nothing but water (in the form of rain) since last Saturday. +2209.09.

I should have gone with my gut instead of thinking too much...or maybe that's vice-versa. N. Illinois hadn't covered in their bowl games in three years...now, make that four. Marshall paid a little...277.78....

Up a little over 440.00 for the bowl season...

How you guys making out?

I made a little (bet a little) on the Navy game. I should have gone with my instincts on the Marshall game, but I passed. Could have/would have...

I'm going to take WKU and Fresno St. today.

Yesterday morning, if I were asked, I'd have quickly said, "too many bowl games."

After the WKU game and that comeback I was tempted to back off of that statement.

Then, after watching a bit of the Fresno State vs Rice game—Fresno being the 7th FBS team in a bowl with a losing record, by the way—I'm right back to where I started: too many bowl games.

Now, on Christmas Day with no football to be found, I'm tempted to back off that statement.

The Blue/Gray game...geez, how much are you missing that game now?

Hey. there is always the Mythbusters marathon on the Science Channel.

Dr. Who marathon on BBC America as well (with the new Doctor.) I've got 56 recordings on my DVR I suppose I should get to...especially considering U-Verse has one of their free premium weekends coming up in January. I've still got nine movies left from the last free weekend...

BTW, just like last year, it's been raining here since Saturday. The pump I've got in the backyard removed at least 20,000 gallons of water from the back yard yesterday. Yesterday!!! So, once again, I'm not where I want to be today. It's partly cloudy, around 58...a little breeze, but perfect weather.

BUT, as I've said to you before, I'm not a fan of lift, clean, and place cheat.

Heart of Dallas Bowl

Illinois versus Louisiana Tech

It has been a few years since Illinois has been to a bowl game, and were it not for the plethora of bowl games now the Illini would not be here now. One of the rough tools I use in evaluating teams is net point differential. Illinois, on average, gives up seven points per game more than it scores. That tells me that they aren't quite as good as even a mediocre 6-6 record in the B1g would lead you to believe. La Tech, on the other hand, despite blowout losses to Oklahoma and Auburn, outscored its opponents by an average of 11 per game. The Bulldogs were actually quite good in their own weight class. The B1g gets its bowl season off to a bad start.

PJ's Pick - Louisiana Tech 34 Illinois 28

Rutgers versus North Carolina

I still shudder a bit when I think about 7-5. last Rutgers bowl game that I paid attention to. The name of this one sounds like it will be played in a bowling alley, and it is indeed being played indoors. That is one of the few redeeming virtues of playing in Detroit in late December. This one has attracted another B1g team with a winning record but a negative point differential. The teams are evenly matched from that perspective, as North Carolina gives up five more points per game than it scores, just as Rutgers does. The Tar Heels check in at 6-6, while Rutgers is at a robust 7-5. Not much to choose from here, but I think that ACC mediocrity triumphs.

PJ's Pick: North Carolina 30 Rutgers 26

The Bitcoin Saint Petersburg Bowl33

North Carolina State versus UCF

Please, don't try to explain to me what a bitcoin is. The last time that someone attempted this, I had a headache for three days. NC State's chief claim to fame this season was being one of the several mediocre ACC teams that was in the game against FSU in the fourth quarter. As the season wore on it became apparent that this was no particular honor for them. The Wolfpack did show themselves to be able to move the ball and light up the scoreboard. The Knights of UCF have shown themselves to be a more complete football team en route to a 9-3 record. They actually block and tackle at UCF.

PJ's Pick: UCF 34 NC State 24
