TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – No. 24/25 Alabama begins a stretch where three of its next four games will be played at Coleman Coliseum, as it takes on rival No. 4/4 Auburn Tuesday night in front of a sold-out crowd. The game, which is the first of two contests played between the in-state foes (Alabama returns the trip on Feb. 1), will be televised on ESPN.

It is the first time in nearly 35 years that Alabama and Auburn will square off with both teams ranked in the AP Top 25. In the last occurrence, then-No. 13 Alabama defeated then No. 17 Auburn, 88-82, inside Coleman Coliseum on Jan. 22, 1987.

Tuesday's game will mark the 165th meeting on the hardwood between the two schools, which is the fourth-most games UA has played against any one opponent. The Crimson Tide owns a 98-66 edge in the series and a 44-9 mark when playing Auburn in Coleman Coliseum, including wins in 10 of the last 12 games played between the teams under the arched roof

The Crimson Tide is coming off a 92-86 setback at Missouri last Saturday, marking UA's third consecutive loss inside Mizzou Arena. Alabama allowed the Tigers to go on a 22-5 that turned a one-point 50-49 deficit into an 18-point Missouri lead with just over 10 minutes remaining. It was the Tide's first loss to a non-Quad 1 opponent (Quad 3) this season.

  • Tuesday's game will be available on ESPN with Karl Ravech (play-by-play) and Jimmy Dykes (analyst) on the call
  • The radio broadcast can be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network with Chris Stewart (play-by-play), Bryan Passink (analyst) and Roger Hoover (sideline) on the call while Tom Stipe (engineer) is turning the dials. The pregame show will begin one hour prior to tipoff.

Odds Bama -3.. Don’t see this with their inconsistent play. Barn now in the top 5.
Haven't seen them play. I do know other than UConn (their only loss), their OOC schedule was pretty weak. Beat LSU pretty good at home, South Carolina on the road and UF at home. So they've beat 1 ranked team this year (LSU). Like you say though, inconsistent, we get the Gonzaga Tide we'll blow them off the court, we get the Missouri Tide, they'll mop Coleman's floor with us and add a coat of wax.

If D effort is not their and the post play isn't better going to be a long night. We do have the home court advantage. Maybe that will be the difference. Hope so could use some good news after last night.

Bama getting punked by the barners on our own home court. You can't just magically turn on the effort and D this has to be who you are. Getting punked at home is pretty pathetic.

Not a good week for the good guys.

rah rah got a run and then went 0-6 the last 3 minutes. Seems like the bama teams can't finish this week. Oh and the classless barners did the crane or whatever it is called after the game.

Hard to imagine a better basketball team than auburn right now... Also hard to figure what JQ was thinking by passing up that open 3. Jeebus.

I was about to write the same thing. Zero clue how he doesn't pull the trigger. Wide wide open.

Open looks the part fo sho. Very athletic looking team. Proud of the way we fought back. Maybe Davidson found his game tonight. I can take this loss, but the Missouri one is the one I can't get past.

JQ completely 100% cost us this game with his carelessness and awful decision making. I don't know what planet he was on in the last minute, but that was god awful.

Bruce has assembled a great team there. With the way Oats is recruiting, we'll be there next year.

Quinerly was -16 for the game. Davison was +11.

It’s the 3 pointers and defense that are spelling our doom.
Wash, rinse and repeat, this is the identity of this team so far. They show glimpses of what could be defensively but they cannot sustain it.

Oh and they get blown out of this game if they had not gotten to the line 30+ times and hit most of them. Almost did anyway were if not for the 14-0 run.
