13/19 for 86 yards. He looked poised and as accurate as ever, should have had 1 td that was on the money but dropped. Didn't look confused or have happy feet. Grant it they didn't give him a lot of downfield opportunities but the did go HUNH and he was calling the plays at the line. IMO... the young man is going to be just fine in the NFL.... he really fits the Pats offensive system really well.

I happen to agree with all of this. True games will be different as he'll have first team guys coming at him all game long, so it's more of a gauntlet, but he looked poised and prepared. Receivers and refs didn't help him much, but that'll be cleaned up.

I think Mac is the epitome of what college football, patience, and solid coaching can do for a guy. He wasn't a scrub coming out of high school, but he was buried in a depth chart at Alabama, a scrawny guy that was known as a joker more than a serious personality. After four years of learning, learning, and more learning, he played one year as a starter and excelled. Now he turned himself into a multi-millionaire that is looking to come behind the best ever in Tom Brady for a franchise accustomed to winning the last 10-15 years. That's a hell of a story at this moment and could become legendary if he is able to win some ball games. The development and trajectory is simply amazing. We'll have to see what Joe Burrow does, but you gotta think it's similar, although Mac was an afterthought by many other franchises.

Gonna watch the Titans
and Falcons tonight. Derrick and Julio wont play but 1 or possibly 2 series but AJ should get a bunch of reps...may be running for his life reps, but reps non the less.
:p

I watched Mac's highlights and he just missed on two long attempts, either one - one should've been caught - would've materially moved his stats. For the most part, he moved through his progressions well, a little slow at least twice and he paid for it with a sack and a knockdown. He's going to do well.

JMO but NE hasn't fixed their problem at WR. Tom had nobody worth a shite his last year other than the Edelman. The addition of the TE's should be a plus but the dink and dunk for 75 yards will be difficult.

We'll see.
An article I read a few days ago mentioned Bellichekā€™s less than successful track record drafting WRs. The article also mentioned NE spending a lot in free agency this past off season.

1967... Bart Starr, Joe Namath, and Steve Sloan (He started one game for the Falcons)...good enough though, I guess. :)
I started thinking about the Seventies as a possibility, prompted me to go down a rabbit hole. Take a look at 1977. Todd's first year to start for the Jets, Namath started four games for the Rams, Stabler starting for the Raiders....and Scott Hunter started seven games that year for the Falcons when Bartkowski was hurt.
