Default With all the coaches fired so far, who would you select as the coach who did the WORST job in 2012?

    It's a long list, eh?

I'm going to put my vote in for someone connected to the state of Alabama and connected to Alabama as a football program.

    Ellis Johnson.

Southern Miss recorded 18 straight winning seasons up until this year. And, in one year, winless.

Best fire of the 2013 season.

    Southern Mississippi (CUSA)

    9/15 Sat vs. *East Carolina L 14 24

    Without a doubt, Gene Chizik!

He had it all going his way and he screwed it all up all by himself. All of the other Coaches I can think of had mitigating circumstances that helped their seasons fall apart, but Gene Chizik has nobody to blame other than the guy in the mirror.

What mitigating circumstances did Johnson have?

Chizik's last season is full of mitigating circumstances. In fact, I'd dare say there were as many, if not more, distractions around that campus this year than there were around ours in 2000. Some identical in fact.

Gotta agree with the Ellis Johnson pick. I always thought that he was a good DC.

Ellis Johnson inherited a pretty sound program and ran it into the ground, quick, fast, and in a hurry!!

Danny Hope didn't have a season like Ellis, but he bragged how this was his most talented team and then began to lose. Purdue finished 6-6, but they had the benefit of playing Iowa, Illinois and IU to close the season. All three were very bad this year. It also hurt that he played three QB's every game on a regular basis. It's tough enough to win platooning with two, but I've never heard of any coach playing three QB's. How does anyone get into the flow of a game?

If you hang around after this season works its way out you'll eventually see psychojoe post. I mention him because we discuss different games throughout the week that are worth playing.

It's been a running joke, though it's been very true, if we have a tough time to figure out which is the last game to play "pick Illinois, they don't cover" even when being a big dog.

Purdue's action did shock me. I realize they were in Detroit last year for a bowl game but I also had to reflect on the point they hadn't been in a bowl in three or four years prior. Hell, they were 6-6 going into the bowl season last year.

I'm wondering if they somehow had/have an inkling there's a better coach waiting, more importantly willing, to take the job?

USM has no quality athletes compared to Auburn or any other team for that fact:

    24 1 0 0 0 0

    2011 PLAYER COMMITS

Give Ellis Johnson Auburn's team and I bet he would at least have won one SEC game, LOL

If you compare performance to pre-season expectations, Lane Kiffin belongs on this list.
