Default Danielson takes up for AJ

I was listening to Finebaum radio program yesterday hoping to catch Cecil Hurt's segment when they went to a commercial break. Since the commercials are 10 minutes long (it seems) I turned to Christopher "Maddog" Russo's program on SiriusXM. Danielson was the guest and after a brief introduction, Russo asked " didn't you think McCarron's crying was a little over the top? What was he doing, putting on a show for the nation to see?"

Danielson defended AJ and said "Not at all! Here was a guy who had lost to them last year and was playing in the biggest game this year. AJ has the chance to be the first starting QB at Alabama to win back to back NCs. He had not played his best in the game and now had one more chance to take his team to victory. All of that was on the young man's shoulders and when Yeldon scored, that entire load was lifted off and his heart just opened up. That's what SEC football is all about. It is filled with emotion and if you think that was all show, you don't understand college football in the South. They play it with all their heart there." (Paraphrased some I'm sure but close to that.)

Russo replied, " well that's why I asked. You were there, I wasn't." And then he changed the subject.

Danielson gained a little more of my respect by standing up to Russo. I never had any for Russo.

That's the most asinine thing I've ever heard. Is he honestly suggesting that- in the middle of everything going on- the thought occurred to him that it would somehow be beneficial for him or looked upon favorably if he began crying on camera in order to garner attention to himself....??
