Saban said the main reason Johnson won the H-back job was his experience and familiarity with Alabama's system.
"Kelly's been in the program a long time," Saban said. "So he's much more veteran than any of those other guys. He's a tough guy, a good blocker, and he's done a really nice job at H."
Johnson grew up watching coach Saban's teams, and that inspired him to walk on at Alabama after getting scholarship offers only from a few Division II schools.
