that the Uof A's mascot, the Crimson Tide, originated from the newspaper descriptions of a game against the lowly agricultural school from down the road in east Alabama? And that the aforementioned game ended in a tie?

So, every time you buy an officially licensed shirt/meshback hat/picnic set with the term Crimson Tide on it, just remember that the name was not coined for some great victory in the Rose Bowl or some national championship season, but from a sloppy 6-6 tie in the red mud of Birmingham against the Auburn Tigers.

12 MNCs vs 1MNC(Eufaula Daily Tribune does not count!)
38-27-1 all time(could be a wider gap if not for the layoff between 1908-1948)

At least we have a past, TM! BTW, the HC beat your arse in '85 as QB, and don't count the Heismans, because we'd take the NCs anyday over that piece of horse pucky, something you Barners would know a lot about down in Cowtown! :D

Actually, you shorted us three victories - 38-30-1 is the all time record as of now. Granted, not great, but still a damn sight better than most schools against the Tide. Besides, it's only getting better from here on out.

Bryant was the best coach you guys will ever see (I think we all agree on that point), but the periods before and after favor Auburn in terms of the overall series. So, don't throw up 1908 -1948 and assume that the margin would be wider. Like Porkchop says, talk is cheap.

Well, he does have one good point. While Bryant was probably the best we ever had. Wade was darn close. He won a lot of big games in his time. My bet would be that he would have dominated Auburn, but that's just speculation.

What was wrong with those people back then anyway? One little spat keeps 'em from playing for 40 years? Think of all the great games we missed out on because of that.....

You're right, TM. I got that record out of the 2003 Media Guide, so two more victories for tsdtr, actually.
